April 9 – Starlite Gaming 1st Anniversary Party (Summerville, SC)

This excellent used video game shop in Summerville, SC celebrated it’s first year of operations with a big party last weekend. There was free food (I left with a couple of ice cream sandwiches because the pizza was all room temp by the time I took my helmet off) and sales. They also held a tournament for Pokemon on Wii U and since the store specializes in older systems and games, they also had an N64 set up with Smash Brothers for customers. Local artist Alex smith had a table set up to sell his comic book artwork and Soundwave Comics showed up with a limited selection of their pop vinyl figures and comics.

A raffle was held at the end of the day for prizes donated by other local nerdy folks (Atomacon and Soundwave Comics) as well as promotional stuff Starlite was willing to part with (standees for Final Fantasy, BioShock). Raffle tickets cost $1 each or one non-perishable food item. They had 30 food items for the Lowcountry Food Bank and over $130 that went to Extra Life, a charity that helps kids in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with video games and other stuff to raise their spirits.

Vader dispatched the Carolina Garrison to watch over this event, but due to conflict in this star system, only one Biker Scout, TB 11110 made it. This didn’t bother the store owner who proudly took a photo with the scout and the kids who lined up to talk about how awesome the store is and especially how they’re such big fans of Star Wars.

Garrison Members in Attendance:

  1.  Chris Gould (Biker Scout)
